Fashion design course taken at UAL. Follow along from inspiration to final output

Inspiration

I am inspired by many things and my inspirations are constantly changing, but organic shapes and textures in nature, art, architecture, and fashion are staples.
When I approach a design brief or project, I gather an amount of inspirational photos, videos, textures and look for ways to put them together or draw from them.

Collage

When I find ways to put my inspirations together or elements I can draw from, I conceptualise a number of collages and from them I look for similarities or patterns that could create a cohesive series of outfits.

Sketches

When I have finished my collages, selected a few and discarded more, I sit down and trace them and add/subtract details.

Product

After sketching I look further into how the shapes can be translated into materials, textures, and colours.
This part of the process remains artistic in nature and expression.

Commercial sub-product

Once I have decided an overall artistic direction, I work on the products to become more commercial of nature.
Focus is on wearability, production costs, and sales potential. Below is a lineup of nine looks.

Development pages of commercial product

The looks from above are then detailed out in the development pages below. They all fall into a specified colour scheme and choice of textiles. Additional sketches are included on each page as well as the initial collage they originated from.
